The Greater Sacramento Area was selected by the Church to participate in the Light the World Campaign and to host the much-publicized Giving Machines. There will be 24 Giving Machine locations worldwide. Our area is only one of two locations selected to host the Giving Machines on the West Coast!
The hosting of the Giving Machines is a joint collaboration between the Sacramento, Roseville, and Santa Rosa Coordinating Councils. Three Giving Machines will be installed at the Roseville Galleria Mall, one of the premier Malls in the Western United States. The Giving Machines will be installed, inside at a premium entrance location, with an anticipated 20,000–30,000 shoppers a day. The Galleria Mall averages close to 80,000 shoppers a day during the holiday season.
Below are important dates in regard to the Giving Machines:
- Nov. 15 – 17 – Giving Machines installed at Mall
- Nov. 19 – Jan. 2 Giving Machines will be operational
- Nov. 30th – Grand Opening Event for media, VIP’s, and invited guest
Volunteer Participation:
Stakes in these 3 coordinating councils will be asked to provide volunteers to serve as hosts at the Giving Machines. It is anticipated that there will be a need for 700-800 volunteers to cover 3-hour shifts, 7 days a week, during mall hours. Volunteers need to be 17 years old and up. All volunteers will be thoroughly trained by the Giving Machine Volunteer Committee in the last part of October and first part of November.
Volunteer signups will be done online on a custom scheduling calendar. Instructions will be provided to the stakes by the Giving Machine Volunteer Committee shortly.
