Help a Refugee Family

volunteer

We have the opportunity to help a refugee family that has recently settled in the Sacramento area. They have 5 children between 3 and 20, live just off of Marconi in Carmichael, and the father has worked with the US Government in Afghanistan for 15 years. They need a little help with a few household items. There are some basic items, like bed sheets.

Please review the volunteer donation list to see if there is anything you would like to contribute: volunteersignup.org/XX94X

They are very appreciative for those that have donated already.

IRC Sacramento – A Great Community Resource

Our stake, along with other stakes in the Sacramento valley work with the local Sacramento branch of the International Rescue Committee, or IRC, to coordinate the efforts to serve refugees to our community. For more information on their mission and purpose, check out their website at: https://www.rescue.org/united-states/sacramento-ca

Drivers Wanted

There is a great need for drivers for food distribution to refugee families in our area. The food distribution happens regularly on Thursdays from Creekside School (2641 Kent Drive). If you can help deliver food to refugee families, please contact Allan at alndelbosch@gmail.com. Volunteers do need to be vaccinated in order to participate. This is an IRC requirement for this service opportunity.

They have been delivering food to 100 families each week the past few weeks and could really use some more drivers for this effort.
